Barry Brust made 29 saves to preserve the Abbotsford Heat’s 3-0 win over the Lake Erie Monsters in American Hockey League action Tuesday night.

It was the 18th career AHL shutout for Brust and his second of the season. He has allowed just one goal in his three games played this year. He has been sharing the crease with Danny Taylor and Leland Irving.

Krys Kolanos scored the winner for Abbotsford (8-1-3) in the second period. Sven Baertschi and Quintin Laing added empty-net goals.

Heat and Monsters have a rematch Wednesday night; hear it live at teamradio.ca.

Kolanos, who dropped the gloves with Tyson Barrie earlier in the second, took a pass from T.J. Brodie and picked the top corner, glove side, for his fourth of the season 12:52 into the period.

Kolanos now holds the Heat’s franchise record for career goals with 34, surpassing Cam Cunning. He joined the Heat on a tryout early last season and has since signed a two-way contract with the Calgary Flames. The Heat are now in their fourth season.

Abbotsford is tied with the Charlotte Checkers with 19 points for first in the Western Conference, leapfrogging Lake Erie (9-5-0).
