The Vancouver Giants were defeated by the WHL Champion Edmonton Oil Kings tonight at Rexall Place by a score of 5-1. Marek Tvrdon had the lone goal for the G-men, his 100th WHL point which continues his 8-game point streak. Liam Liston stopped 26 of 31 shots.

The first period was controlled by Vancouver, coming close to an opening goal with Nathan Burns hitting the post early.

Edmonton were the ones to get the ball rolling with T.J. Foster potting his 10th goal of the season to open the affair. Travis Ewanyk added a late goal to send the Oil Kings in to the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.

Vancouver got themselves back in to the contest after a huge Liam Liston breakaway save followed by Marek Tvrdon’s tally.

Going in to the third period, a comeback looked very probably for the Giants, trailing by only one goal but it all fell apart in the final frame.

Edmonton added 3 more goals to their haul to kill off the game and vanquish Vancouver 5-1.

Vancouver’s record falls to 3-10. They now prepare for their next game against Lethbridge on Tuesday.

TEAM Radio will have the call of that one with pre-game coverage at 5:30 pm; puck drop at 6 pm.
