Olafioye Named CFL Outstanding Offensive Lineman

Jabar Westerman and Tim Brown miss out on awards

The second time was the charm for Jovan Olafioye.

The B.C. Lions offensive tackle was named the CFL’s top lineman Thursday at the league’s awards banquet.

The six-foot-six, 346-pound Olafioye topped the voting conducted by members of the Football Reporters of Canada and eight CFL head coaches.

Last year, Olafioye was the award finalist behind Montreal’s Josh Bourke, who was again the East Division representative in 2012.

Olafioye helped B.C.’s offence lead the CFL in yards per game and rushing.

The 24-year-old Detroit native hasn’t missed a start in three seasons with the Lions.

Meanwhile, Jabar Westerman finished second in Top Rookie voting. Winnipeg receiver Chris Matthews took the honour.

Lions return man Tim Brown finished second for Outstanding Special Teams Player. Hamilton’s Chris Williams took home the award.
