Roberto Luongo remains a Vancouver Canuck, as the team did not move Luongo before Wednesday’s trade deadline.
The news means Luongo will remain with the Canucks until the season comes to a close. The Canucks are expected to vigorously pursue a trade for the veteran netminder in the summer.
TSN reported before the deadline that the Canucks were in discussions with four different teams, but nothing panned out. Among the likely targets: Toronto did not trade for a goalie, Tampa Bay added Ben Bishop from Ottawa, and Philadelphia picked up Steve Mason from Columbus.
The Canucks lone move this season was to add centre Derek Roy from Dallas, in exchange for Kevin Connauton and a second-round pick.
Luongo last played in Saturday’s 4-0 loss in Edmonton, but has seen Cory Schneider start the past eight games. Canucks host the Oilers on Thursday.
