Canucks GM Mike Gillis joined BMac and Taylor Thursday afternoon on TEAM1040, discussing a number of issues related to his hockey club.
His team is 1-1-1 heading into Friday’s game in Anaheim (TEAM1040 has the call at 7:00), and Zack Kassian has been a big factor in those games including the shootout winner Wednesday against Calgary.
Gillis discussed Kassian’s development over the season, including a detailed description of why an MMA training regimen has helped Kassian’s game so much.
Roberto Luongo remains a Canuck, with Gillis reiterating there’s no hurry to trade Luongo as long as the team is playing well. He also said he has no qualms about trading Luongo to a Western Conference opponent, as long as the trade makes the Canucks better.
“I’m fairly pragmatic. I don’t necessarily care about that, I care about our team and having the best team here in Vancouver that we can have. So if that means in our conference, that’s what it means.”
