Canucks GM Mike Gillis discussed a variety of issues in his weekly hit with TEAM1040 on Wednesday.
The club announced that morning that Cory Schneider has an undisclosed injury that will keep him out of Thursday’s home finale against Anaheim. In true playoff form, Alain Vigneault referred to it as a “body injury”
Gillis said the team will give the injury a couple days to settle down. He said if Thursday’s game was a playoff math “perhaps” Schneider would be able to play.
Joe Cannata, who went 6-6 with the Chicago Wolves has been called up from the AHL.
Gillis also commented on the play of Frank Corrado, who made his NHL debut in a 3-1 win Monday against Chicago. Gillis also gave injury updates on Kevin Bieksa, Keith Ballard, and Chris Tanev. All are close to returning, with Tanev likely the furthest away with his ankle injury.
The Canucks are also still looking for a location to place their AHL affiliate next season, after a possible deal with the city of Abbotsford fell through. Gilllis discussed the situation in detail, and mentioned there are two northwestern locations that are very interesting.
