The Vancouver Giants Hockey Club has traded 19-year-old left winger Nathan Burns to the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for 18-year-old center Travis McEvoy, a 3rd Round pick in the 2013 Bantam Draft and a 1st Round pick in the 2014 Bantam Draft.
Giants face the Kootenay Ice Saturday night on TEAM1040.
Burns, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, has three full seasons under his belt as a member of the Giants after being the team’s 7th Round selection in the 2008 Bantam Draft. Burns heads to Saskatoon to become a member of the Blades organization which is set to host this year’s MasterCard Memorial Cup Tournament.
In McEvoy the Giants acquire a 6’0”, 211 lbs center. Last season he tallied 6 goals and 5 assists in 64 games. So far this season he has registered 4 assists in 13 games, with an even plus/minus rating. The native of Thorsby, Alberta will meet up with the Giants on the road, as they head into Cranbrook to take on the Kootenay ICE on Saturday night.
Meanwhile Nathan Burns is scheduled to suit up for his new team right away, as the Blades are in Cranbrook to take on the Kootenay Ice this evening.
