TEAM 1040 Shows: Scotty & Company

MORNINGS: 6AM – 10AM

Scott Rintoul

What’s more surprising? A sportscaster with a B.Sc. in Biochemistry or a university football team starting a 5’7″ wide receiver? Apparently ‘Affirmative Action’ includes redheads too. Scott Rintoul’s love of sports trumped his abilities in the lab, and a few years later he’s combining the two again when he rants about steroids in sports on the TEAM 1040. Though obviously not on the juice himself, Scott’s an avid athlete who describes himself as a jack of all trades, master of none.

Scotty now welcomes longtime TEAM 1040 contributors Paul Chapman and Jason Botchford from the Province newspaper to the morning show each day, bringing their own perspective to the stories of the day.

Ray Ferraro continues to join the TEAM 1040 Morning Show each day for The Hockey Breakfast – tune in to the 7am hour for this feature of dedicated hockey coverage with one of the best analysts in the industry!

Paul Chapman joins Scotty daily from 6am-8am
Paul is a lifelong sports fan who has worked in all facets of the journalism industry, but always defaults back to sports. Paul joined The Province as a general news reporter in 1991, before moving over to sports, covering the Lions and the CFL beat, as well as supplementing the NBA and NHL Coverage, centering on the Grizzlies and the Canucks. He then moved over to news to run The Province’s City Desk, but always kept a hand in the award-winning Province Sports section. After heading up the complete 2010 Winter Olympics operation for The Province, he has been a Senior News Editor running all facets of theprovince.com as the company transitions to a digital-first delivery.

Jason Botchford joins Scotty daily from 8am-10am
Jason Botchford joined The Province in June 2005 after spending seven years at the Toronto Sun, as a cops, court, features and sports reporter. He has covered the Vancouver Canucks beat since the 2004-05 season for The Province, and is also a regular contributor to ‘That’s Hockey’ with Gino Reda on TSN.

INFO FROM RECENT SHOWS:

 Today’s guests included:

Chris Price 645am:

-         Doesn’t think that Baltimore has an answer for NE two top tight ends

-         You can’t blitz Brady

-         You have to be physical with the NE defense, that’s how opponents have been successful against the Patriots in the past

-         Wilfork does all the dirty work, he gets some flak in NE but he’s a guy that occupies 2-3 blockers and allows other guys to get to the QB and allows other players to make big plays

-         Where the Patriots find people finding faults with them, that’s where they take their anger, they like being the team that no one talks about, against Tebow they were more than happy having all the attention going towards the Broncos

Ray Ferraro 715am:

-         Tanev isn’t coming up to sit in the press box, he’s coming to play, he’s not unlike Salo

-         This call up is very important to evaluate Tanevs play going into the post season, but still will go and get a D man at the deadline to boost the line up

-         Believes deep inside it burns knowing that he’s capable of being a starting goaltender, but he does a great job of be professional about it and not showing it to the media/fans

-         All the goals the caps had last night were one and outs, Semin was a ghost but had a goal, he could have had two or 3, nothing about the Caps showed their an elite team

-         Montreal’s PP is terrible

-         No one is going to make a play of Miller, Drew Stafford has been disappointing, there have been many players on the Sabers under performing this year that could be moved

-         The Blackhawks no name players are really making the hawks look good

-         Theres lots of goaltenders out there but very few landing spots

-         Versteeg and other Panthers have cooled of over the past few weeks, and will probably let the division crown go to the Washington Capitals

Aaron Wilson 745am:

-         The Ravens will be better this week just because the defense they’re going up against is not as good as they one they face in the Texans

-         It doesn’t just come down to Joe Flacco for the Ravens not to make the Super bowl, it’s the tackling core and many other players

-         Tory Smith the rookie receiver is capable of making plays, but their offense will come down to how well Ray Rice performs

Pierre LeBrun 815am:

-         Miller says he does not want to move, therefore he wont

-         Look for Vanek to get traded for another top 6 forward

-         The Sabers had one of the best 2nd half season last year, but thus far they have had to many guys have brutal seasons to date and obviously that doesn’t help them

-         The Preds at this point look like buyers so don’t look for them to trade Suter

-          The flyers are  looking to use Prongers cap space to add another D man

-         The Leafs are looking for another top 6 forward but one with size because Burke believes his top 6 forwards are to small

-         The off season is going to be more important for the Tampa Bay Lightning then the trade deadline, they will be looking for a franchise goaltender

-         The NHL will not be running the Coyotes in their current location for another year, they would like to keep them in Phoenix, but if they don’t have an owner the team will be relocated

Corey Schneider 930am:

-         would be ok to get ready for a shootout if they had asked him, but it would be difficult

-         On the other hand it can be a bit of a slight if a goaltender plays 65 minutes he probably wants to get the chance to win it

-         It tough to watch all the shooters, a team will never put out the same 3 guys on a regular basis

-         Trade rumours never really bug him its been happening for a long time, its just another part to the year for him so it doesn’t really cause much stress

-         Maybe in the minors it was a little more irritating but for the most part now it doesn’t really matter, just worried about playing hockey

-         Gonna take it easy over the next little while, after playing 25 games in 50 days, its nice to be able to recharge a little bit now

-         Getting the start in Boston meant a lot to him, coach V is really good about getting guys time in their home town and things like that

-         The TD Gardens is a hostile place to play, its fun but very hostile

-         Lou was terrific, he wanted to start that game but he was also very supportive in backing Corey when he got the start in Boston

-         Would tear up at the end of field of dreams
